Augmenting Therapy CIC is a Cardiff-based community interest company delivering therapeutic group programmes for neurodivergent young people aged 10 to 25.

Our young people are struggling
In Wales, one in five children and young people now has a diagnosable mental health condition, double the rate of twenty years ago, with anxiety seeing the sharpest rise (Public Health Wales, 2025).
Across the UK, 255,000 children and young people are currently waiting for mental health support (NHS Benchmarking Network, 2025).
We need to be adaptive, responsive and reflective of the rapidly changing world that young people inhabit
Many of the young people we support find traditional therapeutic methods difficult to engage with. The reality is that traditional talking therapy is not for everyone.
At Augmenting Therapy, we believe in personalising support, using approaches that young people already feel comfortable with, to make group sessions more accessible and engaging.
Our sessions, delivered by specialist counsellors, offer an alternative where young people can interact with calming, supportive immersive and creative environments that blend with in-person group interaction.
Our approach
We use immersive technologies, creative methods, and skills-based facilitation to create therapeutic spaces that feel familiar, engaging, and safe.
Sessions are delivered in person and blend virtual environments, *Minecraft, art, animation, and storytelling and led by the young person's interests and strengths.
Our approach is trauma-responsive, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in co-production. We do not require a diagnosis to access our groups.
Our outcomes speak for themselves. Participants show a statistically significant anxiety reduction and young people who had been outside education for over a year showed a 25% increase in attendance within six weeks of joining our programme.
Our Approach
Immersive
Storytelling
Many of our young people use gaming and technology as a way of making sense of their experiences and connecting with like-minded others.
Our sessions include *Minecraft, our unique guided imagery app, animation, and video to help young people in our groups express themselves.
*Not an official Minecraft product. Not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft.
Creative Interventions
Not every young person can put their feelings into words. Our creative sessions use art, animation, clay, and storytelling to give young people other ways to express what they are carrying.
Themes include Being Me, Feeling Safe, and Being Friends. The work is always led by the group and results in some of the beautiful work featured on the main page.
Building social connection
We are committed to helping young people and the adults in their lives feel a sense of community and belonging.
